My neighbor is building a low stone wall along our shared property line. I went out to see what the three workers were doing. I said I was just curious and asked about some planks on the ground.
The man in charge came from the other side of the long hole to explain what the wood was for.
Me: “Do you enjoy your work?”
Man In Charge: “Sometimes”
Other Worker: “If not for these two, it wouldn’t be any fun at all.”
I was happy to bring positive feelings between the coworkers into the open.

I was at a neighbor’s house when his septic field was being replaced. I watched the workers for a bit.
Me: “Do you consider your job fun?”
Worker: “Oh, yes! I get to work outside!”
Me: “You get to dig things up.”
Worker: “Oh, yeah! You can wreck a lot of things.”
