Feminists Who Trash Women

Feminists began trashing other feminists in the early days of feminism’s second wave in the United States. Women left the women’s movement to escape the trashing.

Women who considered themselves feminists trashed me in the late 1980s. I left a position to escape the trashing. Because of those experiences, I decided to write the book From Pyramids To Circles: Taking Hierarchy Out Of Small Groups. I am revising the book a second time under the title From Pyramids To Circles: Shaping Groups To Succeed. The revised book will get a new cover. I also wrote several blog posts exposing feminist leader ineffectiveness and hypocrisy.

Toni van Pelt was elected National Organization for Women (NOW) president in 2017. Van Pelt created such a toxic work environment that Vice President Gilda Yazzie left her position to escape the trashing and filed a federal lawsuit against NOW.

“Less than a year after they were elected, more than a dozen staff members wrote a letter to NOW’s board complaining about Van Pelt, saying that among other things, she had told at least two employees that Yazzie was chosen as her running mate only because she needed a woman of color on her ticket, according to The Daily Beast.

The letter further accused Van Pelt of “erratic and sometimes violent treatment” of Yazzie, who left her post and later reportedly filed a racial discrimination lawsuit against NOW.

The staffers pointed to other episodes in Van Pelt’s tenure that they said amounted to “illegal, morally reprehensible, dishonest, destructive, and frankly toxic behavior.”

The strategy to end feminist leader trashing is for women to speak equality. I have both a web page and a Facebook page with speaking equality strategies and examples.

Equality for any woman requires equality for all women,
including women we don’t like.

Equality between men and women will follow
equality between women.
